Scientific AI Hamprecht Lab, IWR, Heidelberg University

Peter Lippmann

I have just finished my PhD in Fred Hamprecht’s Scientific AI Lab. Before, I studied Physics at Heidelberg University and at Imperial College London. My research spans 3D computer vision, scientific machine learning, and geometric deep learning, and I have tackled mixed-integer and combinatorial optimization problems along the way. I am passionate about designing principled methods to understand structured data, from graphs to complex assemblies, and I am very much interested in the interplay of symmetries and neural networks – because why make things simple when you can make them elegant?

In my free time I love doing sports, riding my bike up the Heidelberg Hills or going bouldering. I sing in a student choir and always enjoy playing the guitar in the occasional jam session.

Feel free to get in touch with me or catch me in person at our weekly journal club where we come together to discuss the latest and the greatest in the machine learning paper jungle.
